Enjoy a fanwork recently, but don't want to create a whole new post to recommend it? Drop a link here! Every week, I encourage you to share a fanwork that you enjoy!

Please try to include some information on the ship or character(s) involved, as our members' specific interests vary! Provide trigger warnings, if applicable, as well. And please make sure you're properly linking back to the creator of the fanwork. So, no reposts!

Self-recs are encouraged, too! Creators, feel free to rec any Dunmeshi fanworks you've made recently (or not-so-recently!).

Remember: if you want to see all of the recs people have to offer, consider clicking the "Track this" button to be notified of all future replies! And also keep in mind you can always make a separate post for your recs. This helps keeps our community active, on top of giving your recs more visibility.

I look forward to seeing what everyone shares!

Witch Hat Atelier anime is out!!!! 🎉

It's sooo beautiful, I'm so happy. Two episodes dropped at once so we got to see a little bit of the other girls in episode 2, I can't wait to watch more... Obviously it will never be quite AS good as Shirahama's masterful work but the animation was so nice, I think they did a really good job with everything. Coco is so cute! And Qifrey my love...

I hate watching ongoing anime ughhh 20 minutes once a week is not enough!!

Also the anime for Marriage Toxin aired this week too which I totally forgot was happening, but I watched the premiere and I think it was pretty good. We'll see how the next few episodes go, the manga genuinely makes me laugh out loud at times so I hope they get the humor right. Basically the premise is that the heir to a clan of Poison Masters needs to get married and have babies so his gay sister isn't forced to (gay ally Geto canon) but he sucks at interacting with women so he enlists the help of a con artist who commits marriage fraud. It's very silly and very fun.

minor spoilers for the twist revealed in episode 1 )

Anyway! Assuming both WHA and MT hold up to their manga counterparts, I recommend giving them a go! WHA if you like fantasy worlds with strong worldbuilding and cute characters and themes of like, power and responsibility in society and how regular people/minorities get screwed over. MT if you like romance action comedy shounen lol. This is like a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation lmaooo I promise they're both good at very different things!!

WIP Wednesday

It's WIP Wednesday! If you have any Dungeon Meshi fanworks being made, share a bit of your progress in the comments here! Whether it's a fanart sketch, a fanfic snippet you're particularly proud of, or a graphic you haven't quite nailed the colors of yet, we'd love to see it.

For the sake of not making the comments section multiple miles long, please put your WIP under a cut, and provide a description of what is underneath said cut! (Ships, characters, what type of fanwork, trigger warnings if applicable...) We all have preferences for subjects we'd like to see, and things we'd like to avoid.

Don't be afraid to ask for help, as well! If something isn't quite right about your piece, but you can't quite put your finger on what, getting fresh eyes on it can help narrow the problem down in record time! Just be sure to specify you are looking for help, and what area you need help with. (Example: "I need help with this Falin fanart. Could someone help me make the colors more cohesive?") You can also ask for resources, and anything else you may need help with!

And remember, once your WIP is no longer a WIP, to consider posting it here for the whole community to enjoy!

shirley is going to chase alex about my senior role. pray for me.

i have had two power cuts today, so was offline for a solid hour and a half. very annoying but also quite nice to have an excuse to sit out in the sunshine in the back garden and relax. chris was so sweet, he was out and i rang him to say about it and he came home in case i wanted a coffee because he had some in the thermos. as he came through the door the power came back on - but only for five minutes!
my funeral dress arrived - it's a little big in the shoulders but i think i ought to be able to pin it to my bra straps so it stays in place. its very cute. but also covered enough that i feel modest in it, so eminently suitable.

took moose to the country park when i finished work, and wandered around the woods. tried to take a self timer selfie of the three of us, and it only sort of worked because the light was behind us so the exposure level is a bit off. oh well. it was a lovely walk, and i enjoyed being out and about in nature. i didn't want to leave the house until i got there, but it was so nice to be out and a firm reminder that i need to push myself to do things i don't want to do more often. my watch says i've walked four miles but only done 7.5k steps -  chris' watch is newer than mine and says he has done more steps than me. grr.

came home and made a weird hodge podge dinner - mexican pulled pork with sour cream, salad and corn on the cob. was very tasty. chris is watching the football now, and i am catching up on my journalling with an expensive hydrating sheetmask on. its making me laugh that my phone still recognises my face even when i look like michael myers. might stick my headphones on and listen to some audiobook and do some sewing...

watched blade for the first time today. it was... interesting. there were some very funny moments and some moments that were sad, and overall its very much of its time.

took moose to the vets after work to get his kennel cough and booster vaccines. he didn't even flinch. bulletproof dog. the vet said he was in excellent condition. i think he is in need of a bath. got him a crocodile nerf toy and some cows ears - miraculously the toy has lasted the evening.

laura had her emergency dental appt and her dad made a song and dance out of it as per usual. i hope she feels better soon. its very weird her not being in the house.

we went to tesco as my vanquis card has been activated and we were running low on some vital things like loo roll - i slipped into the sushi section though and also bought a fake plant for the middle of the dining table. our dining area is so dark that its hard to keep anything real alive there.

unfortunately i did not do my steps today. i was just too tired! balance transfers activated, although annoyingly i can't balance transfer my zable card? which was the key reason i wanted to do a balance transfer as its soo expensive. so i will prioritise paying that one down at the end of the month as my capital one is now 0% interest for 10 months. baby step in the right direction.

last day of triple pay. the eight hour shift was a bit of a slog.
did five and a half hours, then logged off to spend some time outside. took moose for a walk,  and it was windy but he was largely well behaved and it was nice chris came with me. got lots of steps in, but not quite enough, so walked up to the garage to post a parcel and get some snacks. i wanted popcorn so we could have some whilst watching gone girl, but it was not to be.
came back, logged back on and slogged through the last 2.5 hours which were possibly the longest of my life. i watched a lot of kodekai videos whilst working, and some of kingdom of ash. kodekai made gochujang butter steak and cabbage and i swear it looked SO GOOD.
i made chris chicken thighs for dinner and i had pasta. hardly steak. but it filled me up and was cheap.
watched some of TLC's unexpected, then i remembered we were supposed to watch a movie so put gone girl on. i was struggling to stay awake but it was as good as i remember it being and chris really enjoyed it. i think i might be on to something here.

Hope is a powerful thing

Hope is a powerful thing and I am trying to have it.

It's been a long day. Jasper's appointment was today.

They were quite nice. We had a chat. They performed a test on his abdomen because they agreed that before we focus on the hyperthyroidism we need to solve why he isn't eating.

They didn't see anything on the X-ray taken last week of concern, possibly a bit of inflammation but no sign of tumors, however they sent it to their radiology appointment to verify what they saw. So in the next two days we'll find out if there is a very small tumor. But they don't think that's likely.

They took an ultrasound of his belly. No tumors, masses, other bad things. Some inflammation to be aware of once we get him eating. They said he should eat different proteins.

They suggested either in hospital or out of hospital care but we couldn't afford two days hospitalization, testing, monitoring his kidneys and heart along with a feeding tube as that was more than the 5k we have to spend on our Bean. And it would prevent the dental surgery.

So we talked some more and we were told if he didn't eat in 18 hours with the anti nausea, antibiotics (they found sores on his little tongue), appetite stimulant and pain medicine it would be time to let him go.

But! We got home and he demolished about 100 calories from several sources of cat food not half and half (cream/milk blend). Which is half of what he should eat daily for weight gain.

So in the morning, I'll contact the dentist to reschedule his surgery hopefully very soon as he has ulcers now alongside his cavity/gum issues.

I'll also contact a few places to do subq fluids as the big hospital was not able to due to Bean deciding he was absolutely done. After cooperating with them for hours.

He's home. He's eating. I want to believe that we can make it through this.
